GAC Series cartridges effectively reduce unwanted tastes, odor and chlorine taste & odor from your drinking water. A common complaint of all types of GAC filters is pressure drop (typically 5-7 psid @1 gpm), reduced flow and water forming channels thru the GAC media which results in less contact time and absorption.
For superior performance we recommend carbon block filters vs Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filters. For example, the MATRIKX + CTO®/2 filters flow in a radial (outside-to-inside) direction, providing increased dirt-holding capacity and lower pressure drop (2psid @ 1 GPM for a standard 9-3/4" x 2.5" OD filter). Unlike GAC filters, Carbon Block cartridges will not channel or bypass due to the extreme uniformity of their extruded activated carbon core. Service life of Block Carbon filters is greatly extended by a prefiltration medium.
